Last LDJAM wrap up & reviews

Last LDJAM wrap up & reviews

It’s been a long while that I haven’t written anything. I’m sorry about that, lot’s of stuff happening right now and not really related to video games…
I didn’t even have the time to write a wrap up of the last Ludum Dare or make a dedicated page for Six Degrees of Separation Between Me and the Party, what a shame!

Concerning Ludum Dare #38, I was really happy with the final results. That’s a great progression since last time!

I wrote a post mortem a few days before the results if you’d care to read. And I promise I’ll create a dedicated page for the game in a few days 😀

I also wrote a tutorial on pixel perfect animation in Unity, or a description of how I handeled the pixel perfect animation during the Ludum Dare.

I was really pleased with the general reception of the game. With the warm feedback from players on Newground where additionally it was also frontpaged.
I also enjoyed reading these two cool articles written by Nataniel Nielson and Free Game Planet and these two cool gameplay videos from Jupiter Hadley and Mickey Blighe.
The game was also mentionned by Adventure Gamers in their monthly Following Freeware.
Thank you all! and I hope I’m not forgetting anyone!

In the mean time two of my former games also get themeselves reviews: Free Afternoon by Free Game Planet and Loop Hell by PajamaGaming
It’s so cool to learn that some people still play these games. 🙂

I’ll be hopefully doing Ludum Dare #39 so see you then!

Help with Free Afternoon most difficult achievement

Help with Free Afternoon most difficult achievement

Several people have asked and as I know it is tought to get (and rather frustrating), here’s a solution to the achievement “Patience is even a bigger Bliss” (higlight the text with your mouse):
Spoiler
Before choosing the option on “problem with the game / problem with installation” you need to first choose the menu option “information regarding any material we sent you (option 2)”. You will hear that they didn’t send you anything.
Then listen to all the other options and come back again to “information regarding any material we sent you (option 2)”. They will tell you about the soundtrack.

Spoiler End
Hope it helps!

Frontpage on Newgrounds

Frontpage on Newgrounds

It’s so cool to discover that Free Afteroon was frontpaged on Newgrounds!! 🙂
It literally lost 0.5 rating stars in the process but whatever, I’m happy that a lot more people played it.
I know the game is a bit special, it’s very probably a love it or hate it affair!
In the meantime I also updated the music section, if you’d like to check some of my tracks most wort mentionning.

Post-jam version and soundtrack of Free Afternoon

Post-jam version and soundtrack of Free Afternoon

The post-jam version of the game is now available on newgrounds and gamejolt.
I wasn’t really motivatated by further expanding the game, so this post-jam version isn’t very different from the original. I have slightly improved visuals and added animations to the walkman level. There are also some medals implemented if you like this sort of thing.

The soundtrack is also available on soundcloud:

Ludum Dare 36

Ludum Dare 36

I don’t do a lot of jams but since some time I’m trying to participate in every Ludum Dare, and this time was no different!
The theme of this edition was “Ancient Technology” and I decided to do a video game experience about old technologies from the 80s and 90s such as old rotary phones, cassette walkmans, floppy discs, VCR etc.
I had a bigger concept in mind and in the beginning I imagined an arcade style game with lot’s of puzzles, but I spent too much time solving some technical issues so in the end the game is a bit different from the initial concept.
But I believe it’s still an interesting experience 😉
Here’s the link to the ludum dare page of the game.
You can play the game at itch.io.

Hope you’ll enjoy it, and don’t hesitate to leave me some feedback!
